Implementation of the PVM Platform R&D Program

Research & Development

The PVM-IGMM platform is engaged in research and development programs aimed at continuously improving the production protocols and use of viral vectors.

Our efforts focus on molecular, cellular, and virological approaches, with three main objectives:

  • Increase the quality of produced vectors
  • Reduce production costs and timelines
  • Expand the service offerings

Optimization of Adenoviral Vectors

Adenoviruses are common pathogens and can persist long-term in the human body. This characteristic can complicate the administration of adenoviral vectors in humans.

Our R&D projects on adenoviruses focus on:

  • The understanding of vector targeting by extracellular proteins, which can influence their immunogenicity in human tissues.
  • The prediction of adverse effects when vectors are injected into the brain.
  • The expansion of our international expertise, notably through access to robust CAV-2 vectors for gene transfer in animals and potentially humans.

These projects are carried out in international collaboration with laboratories in the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Improvement of Genome Editing in Human Stem Cells

The goal is to maximize genome editing efficiency in human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) while reducing off-target effects of conventional methods.

The developed approach combines:

  • Virus-Like Particles (VLPs) for genome editing in stem cells.
  • AAV (Adeno-associated virus) to introduce the donor DNA, enabling the desired genetic modification.
